I was fortunate enough to be one of the guests at the naming ceremony of the latest Lufthansa Airbus A380 in Johannesburg on 28 June 2011

We flew to Cape Town and back on a scenic flight.

Lufthansa names Airbus A380 “Johannesburg”

A Lufthansa A380 was today named “Johannesburg” by Councillor Parks Tau, the Executive Mayor of the city of Johannesburg. The official ceremony, which was attended by dignitaries, officials and special guests, took place at OR Tambo International Airport. Councillor Tau unveiled the name on the aircraft’s fuselage. Following the ceremony, “the Johannesburg” departed for a scenic flight to the Western Cape area, performing a low overflight of Cape Town and the Table Mountain and ending it with a spectacular low pass over Cape Town International Airport's runway.
